THE STARTING POINT

The brief

In the sample brief, new colleagues receive long presentations but still ask how to handle common situations. Managers cannot easily tell whether learners understand the next action or only remember a phrase.

Our approach

Turn the induction goals into observable tasks. Build short modules around realistic situations, provide feedback on choices, and finish with a practical manager conversation. Keep content owners and update dates visible.

Who this is designed for

New staff joining teams in Nairobi and Lilongwe, with managers supporting their first month.

The learner should leave knowing what to do next.

The key design decision

Assess a useful decision, not just recall of a paragraph.

A practical delivery plan

Weeks 1–2 · Define performance

Interview content owners, identify common first-month questions and agree what learners should be able to do after each module.

Weeks 3–5 · Storyboard and build

Write scenarios, record approved narration where needed and build short modules with feedback. Review local wording, examples and accessibility.

Weeks 6–7 · Pilot and hand over

Test the course in the target LMS, collect learner feedback and revise confusing sections. Train the course owner to maintain the source files.

Review, handover and ownership

The proposed handover includes editable working files, a named content or system owner, and a short walkthrough. The team would agree how feedback is collected, which issues block release, and who maintains the work after sign-off. Any additional scope would be discussed before it changes the timeline.

How we would evaluate the work

The acceptance criteria below define what to check during the pilot. They are not performance claims. A live engagement would establish a baseline, confirm access to the right data, and agree a review period before reporting outcomes.
